Wholesale Information
Fresh Blueberries intended for resale are our specialty. Blueberries at Highland Valley Farm are picked at the peak of ripeness and sorted and packed using gentle, clean state-of-the-art equipment designed and engineered to handle blueberries. The fruit is pre-cooled as soon as possible following harvest; air cleaned (to protect the "frosty" bloom on the fruit), graded, and packed; and then refrigerated at optimum temperature and humidity to insure top quality and long "shelf-life". Our on-farm processing and cold storage facility is inspected and licensed and by the State of Wisconsin Department of Agriculture, Trade, and Consumer Protection. An application is currently being made for USDA Good Handling Practices (GAP) certification.
Our standard fresh blueberry pack is a case containing 12 one pint (twelve ounce) clear "clamshell" tills. Each till bears a UPC coded Highland Valley Farm label. Our brand name, "Bayfield Blues", together with the Food Alliance certification seal, draws customer attention to the fact that our product is locally grown in a manner that supports sustainable family farm values. Fresh blueberries packed in 10# bulk boxes, lined or unlined, are also available.
Fresh Raspberries are gently hand picked and packed in the field by trained workers. Our standard raspberry pack is a clean attractive flat containing 12 half-pint (six ounce) "clamshell" tills. Tills intended for resale are labeled with our attractive gold foil Highland Valley Farm label and scanable UPC bar code. Our policy for local distribution is to deliver fresh raspberries on the same day the fruit is picked. All fruit held for pick-up or later delivery is pre-cooled and kept at optimum refrigerated temperatures.
Black Currants for processing, available either as fresh or frozen product, are the most recent fruit offering from Highland Valley Farm. This healthy berry with its unique flavor has long been popular in Europe and is now gaining popularity in the USA. The same technologies we use to harvest blueberries are applied in the harvest and handling of black currants. Although our present production of currants is limited, initial trials have been promising, and we are now expanding our plantings.
Frozen Berries for food service and processing are available seasonally. Your choice of US#1, process (stemless), or juice grade, frozen blueberries, raspberries, or currants can be packed to order in lined 10# or 30# bulk boxes. For large orders, preseason reservation is recommended to assure availability. Contact us for pricing.
